Untreated wastewater discharged from garment operations directly to the environment—such as to rivers, lakes, and creeks—may harm ecosystems, as well as cause health and safety problems for the surrounding communities. The purpose of this section is to describe Levi Strauss & Co.’s Global Efluent Guidelines program, which aims to reduce environmental, health and safety impacts of untreated wastewater from garment operations.
