About Us
ASTRAPTO means to illuminate. Our mission is to shed light on environmental and social issues in hospitality, meetings and events, travel and tourism, and to reveal economically viable and practical solutions. Services include sustainability assessments, roadmaps and recommendations, implementation plans, resource toolkits, certification, and more.
ASTRAPTO ACADEMY offers content and courses to promote and support triple bottom line impact. See our online school at https://astrapto-academy.teachable.com/
The philosophy behind Astrapto's services and courses is "Better a mediocre idea with brilliant execution than a brilliant idea with mediocre execution" (quote from Fernando Trias de Bes). Many of the best sustainability initiatives in hospitality are not brilliant ideas but without change management and culture shift, the execution is mediocre. Think about towel reuse. Hanging up and reusing a towel is not a brilliant idea; it's been around since, well, towels. Yet I've been in countless hotels with towel reuse policies that are not followed.
Many sustainability initiatives are like large trees planted in 6 inches of soil. Deep roots need to grow for the tree to survive, let alone thrive. We work with organizations to prepare the ground and establish deep roots so that both the brilliant and the everyday sustainability initiatives thrive.
