Sustainability Journey Phase 2 - Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of Operations in Footwear

CURRENT STATE
Our current sustainability platform is focused on reducing physical waste using recycled materials for our shoes, and building a durable long-lasting product. However, we are unaware of other environmental and social impacts of our products and operations.

GOAL STATE
Understand the most material environmental and social impacts of our products and operations (for instance, carbon footprint, fair wages, etc) in the key areas of manufacturing, development, and retail space. Develop a road map for expanding our current efforts in line or exceeding other consumer products companies.

DELIVERABLES
Students should answer these key questions: How can we incorporate sustainability more holistically into the our brand? What are new innovations we should we aware of? What are external environmental trends we should take a part in? What environmental considerations should we tackle if we were to start shipping internationally? What are the foundations around sustainability we should consider when we start to open new stores? We would like to see a presentation of the teams’ findings, research and recommendations. Through S-Lab, we'd like to get a better understanding of what other consumer goods industry are implementing (as far as sustainable practices go) and how we can proactively implement best practices into our business, experience, product, and store.
