Packaging Responsibly: Navigating the Recycling Market

CURRENT STATE 
There is a disconnect between the messaging to and from the craft beer industry, due to messaging from its supply chain, around whether or not one-way packaging is being recycled or actually contaminating other recycling streams. 

GOAL STATE 
To improve the sustainability of one-way packaging through an increase in the recycling rate of beer containers and a decrease in the contamination of recycling streams by craft beer containers. 

DELIVERABLES 
A breakdown of the recyclability of one-way packaging items including the probability of said items being recycled based on region, given current practices. In addition, the team should provide a best practices resource intended to guide Brewers Association members on making packaging selection decisions which will improve the likelihood that their one-way packaging will be recycled.
