Decision support for Product Sustainability in Apparel

CURRENT STATE
We are experiencing increased interest from our brands related to product sustainability. Currently the Company's Sustainability team uses a combination of internal and external tools and resources to support brands’ interest in developing more sustainable products. We support a number of industry-wide initiatives and where possible, seek to align our approach with other leaders in the apparel industry.

GOAL STATE
While we continue to build out our enterprise sustainable product strategy, we have developed a decision-making process that balances brands’ needs and requests with our internal strengths and resources. We are clear about what materials to prioritize and when to invest time and resources in extensive evaluation.

DELIVERABLES
A framework to support decision-making related to sustainable materials, including fibers, yarns, fabrics, and finishes. The framework should help our team:

  • Quickly assess brand requests according to a few key considerations

  • Route requests to the appropriate tool, team, or review process

  • In addition, the S-Lab team should research existing resources and provide a recommendation on whether to develop a proprietary Company tool for evaluating product sustainability
